16.5.11 Puerto Vallarta - Vallarata Shores Villa Azul

16.5.11 PUERTO VALLARTA – VALLARTA SHORES

Arrival last night wasn’t the best!!

We flew from Mexico City in a small aircraft approx. 40 pax and my luggage didn’t arrive!
I guessed that the load was too heavy and they off loaded some bags including mine. They said they would deliver them about 12.15 am! Shit

We drive through the city and feel like we are in the big smoke after the relaxing ambience of Playa.
Meandering through little   narrow streets of the old city following the shore line. It is very quaint! The Pacific ocean just isn’t like the Caribbean, doesn’t have that glow!!

We keep going  winding around the tiny cobbled streets and eventually come to a dead end  with Vallarta Shores. Across the road is the beach. We are greeted by the owner who tells us there is no lift and the wifi  is down!!! Ummm!!!!
We head up the wide stair case to our room well apartment. It is extremely spacious with a mezzanine bedroom and bathroom as well as kitchen living area balcony, another bedroom and  bathroom. It is a little tired with very kitch decorations! But it is very big!!!

As we all know it looks so good on the internet! They don’t tell you there is a huge derelict building next door!!

Dump our bags and head off down the dark street to find a restaurant which Jorge says there are 7  on the beach.
Kerrie ask a guy  on the beach where to go an he points yonder!
Ok its dark Kerrie leads the way along a  sea wall and heads for lights!!!
We eventually get to this restaurant walking on the on the sand, caldrens of fire are burning and tealights abound. It is a divine atmosphere.  It is a
bout 9.00pm or later so a margarita is needed ! w
We have a fabulous meal again very cheap and head back along the dark narrow street to our apartment.
I must say I don’t feel all that comfortable but there is   two  of us and have been told it is safe.
Now it is 11.30ish and I have to wait as the staff have all gone home.
I note 2 men holding hands coming into our building!!

No need for Kerrie to sit up  as she is falling aseep in her chair!  off she goes to bed
. I wait till 12.45 am and decide to hit the sack as convinced it wont come , I  worry that I might not see them again as Mexico doesn’t have a great reputation on missing luggage.
At 1.30am I hear noises from downstairs and look out on the balcony and see a man . I ask if he has my bags and he does! Yippee!! He carrys them up for me and now I try to sleep.
The sound of the crashing waves drives me crazy and I just cant sleep so I wake feeling like shit.
Kerrie isn’t too pleased either as we are not in the room that she had booked which is annoying, anyway we head off down the street for breakfast.
First one we see is on the beach, this looks ok and sit down. Next door to us I see 2 old gays bear chested tanned one with rings in his nipples.
I feel rather awkward. It is called Bluechair restaurant.
We order and more gays arrive.  I then look at a poster and it has all these all these men in leather matrix style for forthcoming events! Yuck!!!!!!

Oh shit we are at a gay place! I just want to get out of there! They probably think Kerrie and I are gay!!!!!
Im very happy to leave and as
we walk down the street I  notice  there are lots of gay shops along the windy road,  we are in the gay area!
OMG this isn’t quite my scene!
Shit I don’t feel happy about this but Kerrie takes it in her stride! Cool as a cucumber!!!
A man asks us for a light and of course we cant help him, hes gay too but is very friendly and asks us where we are from etc but also gives us names of restaurants to go too. Which is great ! Hes called David and been here 32 times!!! Owns one of the gay resorts!!!!
We head back as we are in our bathers and want to change before heading down town, get back to the apartment and Kerrie complains about the mistake with our room to Jorge.
It is has taken by someone else but would we like a villa up on top of the hill. We look at the photos and it looks stunning  so we say yes please ,  pack our bags and off we go.
Well this is something else, huge huge  huge.!!!!! Villa Azul! (its on the market for $2.5 million!!
The view to die for, swimming pool with swim up bar, huge kitchen, dining table for 10, lounge are for 20,  heaps of steps to 3 levels, street level our bedrooms which are enormous, the main with open air  window, view amazing and evening breeze, we face west so gets the stunning sunsets! His and hers bathroom, then the mezzanine which would seat 20 people, it is all open to catch the wonderful evening breeze!!
Feel like  you are in Santorini! Sitting high on the hill with amazing views! It is pretty good as our neighbor a few doors down is the Mexican President!

We spend the day here,

I feel like shit and try to sleep but no luck, head spinning, too much coffee for breakfast with the gays!! Plus no sleep!! I rest but don’t sleep!
About 7.30pm we head off to Vista Grill where David the lovely gay guy told us to go!
Stunning, again on top of a hill looking over the city and watch the beautiful  sunset . Have a set menu with matched wines costing us about $40.00!! Amazing!!!
