2nd – 4th Dec Ginza Tokyo 2011

Tokyo!!

Having said that I wasn’t going to travel again for a while that long ago, things have changed!
Yes my life changes all the time!! Never a dull moment!!
A  man came into my life 6 months ago and he is called Henry!  We  have lots of laughs, and fun together! (Hey plus  a few blues!!)  Which makes life interesting!
Henry had to come here for a couple of weeks for business (he is an eye surgeon) and he asked me if I would like to join him! Of course I said yes!!!!
OH and how we met!
Guess what another blind date!!
I must be the world’s most blinded dated girl , how  lucky am I  to have such wonderful friends who think of me .
Henry lives in Dubbo so we spend a lot of time on the phone and commuting!
So you will be seeing photos of Henry during this trip
After a pleasant flight from Sydney where I met up with Henry, he slept all through the flight as he had little sleep over the past week due to his enormous work load, of which I not sure how he does it but he does, he is amazing! I of course never sleep particularly well but did get a few hours sleep with a pill!!!
We arrived in Tokyo, wow everything that I have been told is true,  so organized and so clean. My visit to the loo at the airport was memorable!!! So spotless,  a joy!!!
I had organized the limo bus to TCAT and then a taxi from there to our hotel. I wondered if it would work and  it went like clockwork. This cost approx. $60.00 compared to $500 for a car to the hotel. It was fantastic and highly recommend it especially when you have luggage like Henry and I!!
We arrived and went to our suite, I walked in and it smelt of smoke OMG!!! So I said  politely that I couldn’t stay in that room and could we have another room., ever so politely!!! Yes this is me!!!
Back to reception and then we are taken to a huge suite with dining room, lounge ,entrance hall, huge bedroom, dressing room ,powder room. Fabulous!!! Henry can’t believe what I have achieved!!
We have a shower,  unpack and then decide to head out and hit the shops!
We are in a fabulous position at end of the main street in Ginza.
We wander down this amazing street me gazing in every direction, now we decide we are hungry, look at a board on the pavement and  down stairs we go, here is a tiny little restaurant where you are seated while watching the chefs prepares the sushi and sashimi. The food is delicious and we are very happy. Now we have gathered our strength and off we go.
The pavements are made of granite and wide,  the street  is lined with Xmas tress with gentle music playing, temperature about 15 degrees, the shops windows are elegant with the Xmas spirit.
Every designer shop you wish for. Harry Winston, Burberry, Bvlgari, Tiffany’s,  Hermes plus all the amazing department stores filled with all the designers too. I am in heaven and really quite overwhelmed, plus the fact Henry loves shopping is a plus too!!
After trying on shoes and looking hard at so much Im beginning to wilt, just cant do it anymore so we head home and bed!!
One of his friends calls to see if we would like to go out but Im done so we organize to see him later in the week!
No dinner as lunch was late and I’ve hit the brick wall!! Hit the pillow and Im out to it!!
WAKE UP in the middle of the night (about 4,00 am) and we both  sit bolt upright go whats going on!!! Is someone bonking above us, no I said the beds moving, is there a massage application in the bed that has gone off, we couldnt work out all the shaking!! It eventually stops and we go back to sleep!!

3rd Dec 2011

After breakfast we head to the hospital where Henry is seeing one of his friends. I’m very impressed with again the wonderful organization of a hospital, so clean, gentle music playing, very relaxing!
After his meeting we head back to the hotel and hit the shops and restaurants. We wander around streets and find a
Restaurant  called Ten-ichi and head in. (When leaving we see famous people have dined here in including Bill Clinton)Again the food is presented so well and the taste divine, I don’t think I want to leave this amazing place.
We go to Swarovski crystal shop,  which is white with crystal chandeliers, and white crystal Xmas trees, so stunning!! Feel like you are going into an ice hotel!
I try on fabulous pieces cant decide what to have!! I’m a little over whelmed!! The jewellery is stunning and costume is so in at the moment!
Head to Mui Mui and here try on shoes with jewels in the heels!! Amazing!! More out there costume jewellery just like they wear on the Housewife’s of New York, Beverly Hill,Orange County etc.!!!
Its hard work trying on all this stuff and by now we are hungry again!!
We head down a side street to find a little restaurant specializing in meat!! Here we have the small bbq on the table and cook our delicious meat, wagu, beef etc . Again the presentation is divine!! Hey and the sake is pretty good too!!!
Now I have to make mention of the loos!! I’m in heaven, the seats are warm and you just press different buttons for a full bottom wash, or just the front!! In some places you can even press a button for music if you don’t want anyone to hear noises you may produce!!! They are so clean it is amazing and these are in all shops hotels etc. why can’t we have them here!!!
I’m going to have one when I do my renos I just love them and going to the loo is such a joy and treat I want to go all the time!!!!

Hey guess what the shaking was we felt last night,it was a 4.9 earthquake!!!

4th Dec 2011

Henry is at the hospital all day working with his friend while I go out exploring!!
I decide to validate my train ticket so head to Ginza station where I’m told I have to go to Tokyo station, walk here turn left right and out C9
OK this is fun, a world underground, shops supermarkets, so clean and like you’re in a different world.
Get to where I’m told to be but slightly lost and ask a lovely girl who points me in the right direction to then be told I had to go somewhere else! Oh well I have all day!! I eventually find where I have to be getting the ticket validated. Done!

I then head into Dimaru the wonderful department store we use to have in Melbourne, which has since gone.
I had a delicious  sashimi lunch with a wonderful view of the city, blue sky, and  autumn leaves!
Have a wander around then decide I had better find my way home!! This was quite difficult but after a long walk and finding a railway man I bought a ticket and got myself back to Ginza!! The system is like the metro any where in the world but the ticket machine is in Japanese and I wasn’t sure what to buy!! But again they are so helpful and polite and eager to help!!
Got myself home safe and sound after another wonderful day in Ginza!!
Henry comes home and we join his friend Michael and wife Lynette for dinner at the Panic Club at Roppongi. A great little restaurant Japanese with Italian twist!!
