10th Dec 2011 Hiroshima

Catch the Senchinten train to Hiroshma which we love, such a fabulously comfortable way to travel. It took about 2 hours 40 mins
We arrived there and caught the street car as they are called and what I love about them other than so clean is that they have heated seats!!Heaven!!
We get off at Peace Park and look at the only standing building that remains and then wander through the beautiful park that is so serene and fitting for what it represents.
Then to the Museum where the emotions run high. This is so well done giving both sides of the bomb how it was made when and where and why and of course why Hiroshima was picked as the place to bomb.
We both feel pretty drained after the 2 hours there and decide to lighten up
We head to a little boat near the park and think we are going for a ride up the river and around.
Well we do this then head out to sea!! I check my Japan book and see that we are heading to the island of Miyamji which isn’t all bad as there is the shrine in the water that is most famous world wide as the photo we all recognize as Japan!!
Here  they are famous for oysters, so getting off the boat and heading up the street where the deer run wild and are so friendly we pop into a restaurant and have fabulous fresh oysters which are huge.
We then wander up to the shrine and look at a pagoda on the hill wandering back through a mall of little shops where men are grilling the oysters.
We wander back to the boat to catch the 5.00pm which takes ¾ hr and then head back to the station where I have a sake and sandwich before catching the 8.00p.m Shintansen to Kyoto. We both sleep and are pretty exhausted by the time we get back to the hotel at 10.45pm
