11th Dec 2011 Nara Japan

11TH DEC  2011 NARA JAPAN

We take the local train this am and I decide to take a photo and guess what no camera! Buggar!

Maybe I have left it in my room and luckily I had down loaded my photos last night plus I do have my iphone! So all in all its not so bad!

We get to Nara and walk across the road and up the  narrow street with shops either side lots to look at!

By the time we are getting near to the shrine we decide to have something to eat and go into a little restaurant sit down and then discover it is a tofu restaurant. Oh well we’ll try anything!!

The array of dishes is always exciting and they didn’t disappoint. The meal was interesting but we both decided that we had had enough of tofu!!
Off we head and get to a lake and here is a man and a   rickshaw        . We decided  to take a ride and he gives us a little guided tour as he runs up and down the hilly road!!
He drops us off and we have to walk  up the road as there is a fun run on!
We  get across the road dogging the runners and into the park again with deer wandering around eating amongst the people who are shopping  and walking through the gardens!
We get the to the temple which is again lovely with a large Buddha.  We paint a tile with our name on it paying a small fee for the restoration of the roof. The monk gives us a good luck token which I treasure.!

A wander around and then we walk through the divine park which was a lovely walk back to the little street where we again see a large crowd around a shop selling green buns!

I decide to buy a couple and boy were they yummy so buy another two!

We then watch the process, banging the dough and molding it. Fascinating!! I film and a film crew who were filming the procedure films me!!

Funny!!

After that little bit of excitement we wander down the street. I see a pair of traditional shoes on sale so I purchase them for about $40.00! Then I see a little shop where I get for a dollar each a couple of lacquer bowls!! Great shopping!! Back to the station and buy some apples which are huge!!

(Later on when eating one I  find that they are the most delicious apples I have ever had!!)
